Client Support Worker with responsibility for Livestock Management – Wick Care Farm CIC

 

An exciting vacancy at Wick Care Farm CIC in rural Worcestershire for a Client

Support Worker with responsibility for Livestock Management.

 

Location: Wick Grange Farm, Owletts Lane, Wick, Pershore, WR10 3PB.

Hours: part-time 27 hours as follows:

3 days x 8 hours (24hrs) plus livestock responsibilities over the weekend (3hrs).

Note: weekend responsibilities will not require your presence at the farm every weekend.

Rate of pay/Salary: £14 per hour. Annual salary of £19,656. (FTE: £29,120) i.e. £112 per day plus £42/ week for weekend / holiday duties).

 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone wanting to work with animals in a therapeutic setting, being part of a dynamic team of staff and volunteers who are empowering adults and children to improve their mental and physical wellbeing through outdoor activity in a farm setting.

 

We are recruiting a new member of staff to meet the demand for our specialist services. This job would suit a person who is passionate about using an outdoor setting as a therapeutic environment. The candidate will have experience with animals and a particular interest in working with livestock in this setting.

 

Specific requirements for the role:

  • Ability to take responsibility for animal husbandry: the health and welfare of the animals, in particular sheep, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese; leading on livestock feeding routines, hygiene and medication; ordering and keeping feedstocks up to date; animal record keeping.

  • Knowledge and experience of or demonstrable interest in working with diverse groups, including individuals with mental health challenges, dementia, autism.

  • Confidence, fitness and enthusiasm for working outdoors with animals.

  • A cheerful, creative, patient and enthusiastic approach is essential.

  • Due to the nature of the work, the post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Feeding, watering and caring for our resident chickens, ducks, sheep, pigs and geese.

Building enclosures, maintaining tools, equipment and setups.

Sowing, growing & harvesting a variety of fruits and vegetables on our allotment.

Creating art, seasonal decorations & rural crafts with natural materials.

From field to fork, we prepare, cook and share lunchtimes at Wick Care Farm.
